Theatre Black Dog is proud to announce the second play of its season, Christopher Sergel's dramatic adaptation of Harper Lee's classic novel, To Kill a Mockingbird. The play features actors from North Bend, Snoqualmie, Redmond, Issaquah, Ballard, and Seattle; directed by Susan Bradford. The play is sponsored by The Black Dog Arts Coalition and Jeff Warren of State Farm Insurance. To Kill a Mockingbird, is Harper Lee's autobiographical story of young Scout's evolution from the innocence of childhood to the recognition of the injustices of the adult world, as told by her adult self, Jean Louise, as she goes back in time to a very special summer in Maycomb, Alabama, 1935; when her father, Atticus Finch, defended a man wrongly accused of a terrible crime. The relevance of this classic story of one man's struggle for justice is applicable to today with its power of telling the tale through the compassionate questioning eyes of the children, as they witness Atticus Finch's lone struggle for justice alongside his deep love and commitment to his children. Theatre Black Dog has been performing professional quality classic and original works since its incarnation in 1996. The Black Dog Arts Café, the home of Theatre Black Dog, is a thriving restaurant and hub for music and the arts, known for its hand crafted Mexican Cuisine and evenings of live music and entertainment. Dinner is available before the performance, serving from 6pm to 8pm. Price for dinner is separate from ticket price.
