Mobile Blood Drive with Bloodworks Northwest

Our Snoqualmie Ridge tasting room will be hosting our very first mobile blood drive in partnership with Bloodworks Northwest on Friday, June 16th!

Did you know our winemaker, Bill Grassie, is a frequent blood donor?! In his own words: I have been donating blood since I was 17 years old. I have donated over 350 times in my life. As to why I do it, I don't have any specific catalyst to reflect on, but my mother used to work at the Church Blood drive, and I started doing it then. At the end of the day, it is a fairly easy way to save lives. I do it because many can't for a lot of different reasons. Full disclosure, I have been able to achieve 350 donations because I donate platelets as opposed to full blood. While donating platelets is a much longer process (It is a 3-hour commitment) we are able to donate every two weeks up to 24 times a year. Platelets are used a lot for cancer patients. I donate platelets because I have an A positive blood type and unlike an O negative donor my blood can't be transfused to the majority of the population, but I am a great candidate for platelet donations. I hope to see a lot of you at the blood drive!

We see this as a great opportunity for our community to come together to support the local blood supply! Bloodworks Northwest is the sole provider of blood to more than 95% of hospitals in the Pacific Northwest. It takes 1,000 donors a day to maintain a safe and reliable blood supply for our community.

We are so excited to be able to provide another donation opportunity in Snoqualmie! The blood drives at the City Council Chambers fill up very quickly so it will be great to try and get some more drives going!
