And while most of our youth do not use substances of abuse, for some, peer influences, social norms and their genetics conspire to create a profile that make it difficult for them to escape. Fentanyl and other drugs are now killing more King County residents each week than COVID-19. In July, King County reports the loss of 34 people to fentanyl overdose.
