Position:  Director of Development
Schedule:  Full time, 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year, benefits eligible
Salary Range:  $77,084.80 - $114,524.80 DOE
Location:  Encompass Child Development Center, 9050 384th Ave SE, Snoqualmie, WA 98065
 

Encompass is a private non-profit serving the Snoqualmie Valley and Issaquah communities for over 50 years. Our mission is to partner with families to build healthy foundations for children. We believe what happens early in life matters.  We offer high quality, leading edge early childhood educational and therapeutic services to all children in our communities.

 
SCOPE: The Director of Development is responsible for all aspects of the Development Department which include fund development (grants, planned giving, major gifts and events) and communications/marketing.  The Director of Development serves on the Senior Leadership Team and serves as Board Liaison for the Engagement Committee.   This position reports directly to the Executive Director.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Revenue Generation (15-20%)

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan, including but not limited to major donors, planned giving, special events, corporate sponsorship, annual campaign and grants. 
  • Monitor data to track progress and adjust fundraising strategies as needed.
 
Public Relations/Marketing (5-10%)
  • Oversee the development and implementation of a comprehensive marketing plan for Encompass.
  • Serve as a representative for Encompass at various meetings, events and speaking engagements.
 

Stewardship (15-20%)

  • Develop and foster close relationships with agency stakeholders, including community leaders, donors, business leaders, and others who are or have the potential to be Encompass supporters.
  • Collaborate with community groups, individuals and corporations that would like to partner with Encompass on fundraising efforts.
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of the donor database.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of all gifts, including donor acknowledgements.
  • Plan and develop appropriate donor recognition.
 

General (60-70%)

  • Manage the Development team (Development, Marketing/Communications, Outreach, and Volunteer staff).
  • Prepare and manage annual department budget.
  • Oversee the design, maintenance and production of data files and contributed income reports as needed.
  • Participate in professional activities that focus on and build skill set.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Minimum three years’ experience in senior level fund development
Preferred
  • Master’s level degree in nonprofit leadership, communication, journalism, marketing or related field
  • Additional experience in communication, journalism and marketing
  • Knowledge and experience in Culturally Competent practices
  • Experience with  capital campaign fund raising
 
SKILLS
  • Demonstrated fund raising growth and success at previous position(s)
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to manage a team
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Confident public speaker
  • Skills and experience with the Microsoft Office suite of software
  • Skills and experience in database management
  • Proven organizational skills and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines while working on diverse projects under pressure
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • This position may require extended standing or physical activity.  Must be mobile and able to lift to 50 pounds.
 
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Available to attend meetings, functions, and events after normal business hours on occasion
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license
  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
 
Occasional travel may be required
