Temporary Classroom Assistant
$21.00 to $22.20/hour DOE
Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 8:30-2:00 (5 hours per day/20 hours per week)
School-year-based holidays off
There is a strong likelihood that this temporary position will be extended, pending program assessment at 6 weeks.

SCOPE: In this role, you will assist teachers by providing classroom support in the Early Learning Center program environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist staff with both long- and short-range activities in accordance with curriculum objectives, developmentally appropriate practice, and program philosophy.
- Manage children’s activities and projects as needed.
- Maintain open communication with coworkers.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Report any suspected abuse to supervisor.
- Help maintain a safe and healthy environment; administer first aid in a timely manner when needed.
- Attend in-service and staff meetings when necessary.
- Keep all appropriate records such as attendance and time sheets.
- Meet all applicable licensing regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED)
- High school diploma or GED
- One year work or volunteer work in a food service operation
- Experience working with young children
- Ability to adhere to safety practices and procedures as required by state and federal laws
- Ability to perform the tasks and functions as required by the job including implementing age- appropriate programs and activities and provide positive reinforcement to children
- Ability to work and communicate with a diverse group of people
CERTIFICATION AND LICENSES
Prior to First Day of Employment:
- TB screening and MMR Documentation
- Department of Child, Youth, and Family Services Portable Background Check
- MERIT Registration and obtain a STARS ID.
- Food and Beverage Handler’s Permit
Required within 45 days of hire:
- First aid and CPR card
- Active Supervision/Safe Arrival and Departure
- Child Guidance and Support
- Mandatory Reporting-Child Abuse and Neglect
- Standards of Conduct
- Universal Precautions/Blood Borne Pathogens
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- This position will require extended standing or physical activity. Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
