Position:         Summer Camp Assistant
Hours:             16-35 hours/week, July 1 – August 16; must attend orientation and training sessions; must be available to work a minimum of one full week morning and afternoon sessions OR two half day sessions.
Schedule:        8:45am-12:15pm/12:45pm-4:15pm/8:15am-4:15pm
Travel:             not applicable
Salary:             $16.28/hr - $23.42, DOE
Location:         Encompass Early Learning Center, 1407 Boalch Ave NW, North Bend

DESCRIPTION:
Summer Camp Assistants are responsible for assisting the Lead Instructor with camp set up/clean up, supervising and assisting children as they engage in a variety of indoor and outside activities, promoting a fun environment, and other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assisting with check-in/out.
  • Assist with set-up/clean-up of activities, maintaining a safe and sanitary environment.
  • Assist with preparation/distribution of snacks and supervision of lunchtime.
  • Assist with overall safety and supervision of camp participants.
  • Play with and maintain awareness of camp participants – where they are and what they are doing.
  • Assist with toileting/diapering.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 14 years of age or older.
  • Ability to work with children in a positive, energetic and nurturing manner.
  • Ability to work and communicate with a diverse group of people.
  • Ability to relate to camp participants in a friendly and helpful manner.
  • Ability to follow the instructions of the Lead Instructor.
  • Present a neat, clean appearance at all times.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that this position classification must perform in carrying out essential job functions.
  • Persons performing service in this position classification will exert 10 to 20 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • This type of work involves sitting, walking or standing, and may involve some running.
  • Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far visual acuity, depth perception, providing oral information, the manual dexterity to operate business related equipment, and handling and working with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Participation in the employee orientation, including the Mandated Reporter Training, pass a required background check and provide documentation that meets I-9 requirements. Camps are enrollment driven and may be canceled with minimal notice.

  • First aid and CPR card
  • Food and Beverage Handler’s Permit
