About Us
Waskowitz Outdoor Education Center has been connecting students to nature, community, and hands-on learning since 1947. Located on more than 300 forested acres along the Snoqualmie River in North Bend, Washington, Waskowitz serves students from Highline and districts across the Puget Sound region through immersive outdoor education experiences rooted in science, social-emotional learning, leadership, and environmental stewardship.
Waskowitz offers multi-day overnight outdoor school programs, extended day experiences, living history education, high school leadership opportunities, and facility rentals. Students investigate forest and river ecosystems through inquiry-based, hands-on learning while building confidence, independence, teamwork, and meaningful relationships with peers and teachers. Programs are intentionally designed to balance science exploration, reflection, recreation, and community-building traditions like campfires, songs, skits, and outdoor adventures.
Grounded in the mission of “Connecting People and Place,” Waskowitz honors the Indigenous stewardship of the Snoqualmie people, its Civilian Conservation Corps history, and a long-standing commitment to equity and access in outdoor education. The center believes every student deserves opportunities to learn, grow, and belong in the outdoors.
Today, Waskowitz continues to inspire curiosity, leadership, environmental stewardship, and lifelong memories for thousands of students each year.
